VINCENT COUNTY COUNCIL.
The following in the Order Paper for the next meeting of the Council which rakes place on Wednesday, the 30th of March : adjourned Motions. Cr Pyke to move—' That the Council resolve itself into Committee of the whole to consider the advisability of raising a Special Loan of 1,10,0'0 for the construction of necessary public works. Cr FrasE*to move -That tenders be called for gravelling eighty (80) chains of the Hawea Flat road. Cr Fraser to move—That tenders be called for the construction of the Boundary Creek Bridge. Cr Naylor to move—that one hundred and fifty pounds (L 150) be expended on repairing and continuing the road from Clyde to the head of Waikerikeri Valley, Cr Jolly to move—That the sum of (L ) be voted for the erection of either a punt or chair over the Kiver Clutha, below the junction of the Luggate. Notices op Motion. 1. Cr Colclough to move—That a Committee, consisting of the Chairman, Councillor Joby, and the mover enquire into the demand of M'Lachlan and M'Pherson for a sum of L 45, alleged balance due to them ou purchase of punt, and report, immediately to the Council. She appeared as if she had been . through one famine, anil got two-thirds through another. She was old, enough to . be a gieat grauo-mother to Alary that had a little lamb. She was chewiug prize pop corn, and carried in her hand a yellow rose, while a bandbox and a cotton umbrella , nestled by her sine. 1 couldn’t guess 1 whether see was on a mission of chanty or going west to start a saw mill. I was full of curiosity to hear her speak, so I said : “The exigencies of the times requires great circumspection in- a person who is travelling.” Says she, "What?’ Says I, “The orb of the day shines resplendent in the vault above.” She birched louud uneasy like, then raised herumorella and said j ■" *• T uon’t want any of your sass—git out!” and 1 got oat.
