DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL

' The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of Management was held in the committee room, Town Hall, Clyde, on Monday evening, the 7th inst, at 8 p.m. Present.—Messrs J. U. Cambridge (in the chair), J. Holt, C. Attfield, J. IS. Stevens, and Geo. Fache (Secretary). The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read and received. Visiting Committees No 2 report, recommending payme.it of accounts for salaries and supplies for the past month, ; amounting to £35 2s 9d, was read and received. Treasurer’s report, to the effect that there was a debit balance of some £59, was read and received. Surgeon’s report, as follows, was read and received : Number of patients in Hospital February Ist, 1 ; admitted during the month, 8 ; discharged do, 5 ; remaining in Hospital February 28th, 4. A letter from Dr Leahy, accompanying his report, relative to the admission of persons suffering from the effects of strong drink, and asking special instructions, was read and received. After discussion, ihe Committee being of the opinion that such persons suffering under that disease should only be admitted as special oases, and subject to special charges, it was resolved— That the Resident Surgeon be instructed not to admit in future any person suffering from the effects of strong drink until all dues owing by them are paid, and without payment in advance of one week's maintenance ; and upon the understanding that all special expenses incurred by or on behalf of said person, whether for nurse, board and lodging of nurse, or for extra medicines or medical comforts, are to be charced to and paid for by the said patient. Tenders for the six months ending September 12th, 1881, were accepted as follows B. Naylor—Wines, spirits, and beers. R. L. Begg—General groceries and kerosene. Attfield and Weleford—Meat. T. H. Bell -Bread. J. Holt—Coals. The Visiting Committee was instructed to arrange for the supply of butter. Resolved—That Mr Charaock be informed that no further payments on account of contract re erection of Hospital buildings will be made without the combined receipt of himself and Mr A. Moore. The meeting then separated.
