SPECIAL TELEGRAMS.

(from our special orhkspondents) Dunedin, February 24th. RAILWAY ACCIDENT. & terrible railway accident occurrred at the Railway crossing ab Kensington about 9 o’clock last night. A. goods’ tra : n from Walton Park ran into a cab containing seven persons, killing two horses and smashing up the dab. The passengers were thrown a considerable distance by force of the condission, but the train did not run over anybody—the flames of the passengers were Henry Mayo, C. Q. Armstrong. Lyons, Griffiths, Roberts, James Fairburn, and George Lloyd—the cab was driven by Patrick Keys. They were all speedily conveyed to the Hospital, where it was found that only one, Mayo, was very seriously hurt. The others are nil progressing satisfactorily, ami most have returned to their homes. Mayo is very seriously injured anout the head, and is not expected to live. A c ih containing ladies was followidg the first cab, and had a very narrow escape, the horses touching the train before they were prilled up. There was great excitement in town when the nows Was known. The cause of the accident is alttribilutei to the driver of the Cab hot hearing the whistler, of the train, but it is Stated that tha whistle was blowfl. The crossing is very dangerous, h'tfusds being built quite to the junction of the foad and rail. Great blame ia laid on tha Rail-
