Art aid specific for Irish discontent.—The following extract is taken from “Curiosiilies of the Search-room.”—“ I give and bequeath the annual sum of ten pounds, to be paid in perpetuity out of my estate, to the following purpose it is mv will and pleasure that this sum shall be spent in the purchase of a certain quantity of tlie liquor vulgarly called whisky ; a”d it shall be publicly given out that ti certain number of persons, Irish only, not to exeed twenty, who may choose to assemble in the cemetery in winch I .shall ha interred, on the anniversary of my death, shall have the same dfstrinuted 10 them. Further, it is my desire that each shall receive It by half a pint at a time till the whole is consumed, each being likewise provided with a s'out oaken stick and a knife,' find that they shall diink it .all on the spot Knowing what I Know of the Irish character, my conviction of that, with the e materials given, they wilf not fail to destroy each other ; acid, when in the course of time the race becomes to bo exterminated, this neighborhood at least may perhaps be colonised by civilised and respectable Englishmen.—Will dated 17th March, 1791.”
