A RATE EREEDING COW.
A correspondent of the St. Louis Journal uf Agriculture, writing from Millan, Missouri, on September 16. says Last fall, while iu Sullivan, I tried to give you some description of the most noted cow that you, nr I either, ever heard of. She has become mine noted since that turns by repeating the same thing ag.a u Yesterday I was on the farm of Judge Payne, living live miles north east of Millan, in Sulivan country, lie is a well-to-do farmer, and what you might call a true Bmrbon, being from Kentucky, and one of those large-hearted hospitable men that you find from the blue grass region Ho is a large stock man, and the owner of the most noted cow iu America. He has 1*21)0 ac.es in his farm, 700 or SOI) in grass, all in a high state of Cultivation, lie would Welcome to bis domicile, and be glad tn show any one what they u-ver saw before—a cow that at nine calvings droppo 1 23 calves, or 2i at each time. She is a common scrub, black and white, audit' fat might weigh 1100 She is now 14 years old, and in the lot with heroilvee. She has four calves which were four years old the 26th day of last June, weighed yesterday as follows The steer, which is red mi i white, but mostly a deep red, weighe I 17oOlb j a blue spotted lie fer, 17041b ; a red-ami-white pie l heifer, 1574; and the last of the four, a white one with red on the neck and sides, weighed 1536 di; making in all 65141b. All uf these calves were dropped at one time on lira 26th day of June, 1876. In Juue, 1878, she dropped three heifer-calves, ami iu March, April, and .May last., each uf these had calves, and are good milkers. Th an young cows, with the old dam and her (our large calves. can be seen at any time on tho farm of Mr Payno. Nor does it stop here ;in the year 1880, this note! cow, during the waim days of August, dropped four more calves at one time, one male and throe heifers.
