A GRIEVANCE.
(TO TUB EDITOR OT THE DUXSTAX TIMES. Sir, By inserting these few lines you may possil.y please some residents of the town. There is a man employed hy the. County Council to keep the streets of Clyde free of muck ; but it appears, from the very commencement of this appointment, that tne .only street which is ever looks I after is the main street—Sunderlaml street to the County Offices. 1 would sugg-st that at the next meeting of tho County Council attention he drawn to the subject, and that tho recipient of £2 per week lis directed to the state of tho back thoroughfares,, which are in a disgraceful condition. If the inspector of Nuisances had performed his duties in a right way, he would ere this have drawn attention to the disgraceful state of some of the back places. It would perhaps be as well that Councillors should travel round the backslums and satisfy themselvts as to the statements I have made. Trusting that this effusion will have the effect of drawing attention from tho proper authorities, ami that there will be a change made for tho better in the Rituro. I am, &c., A. RESIDENT.
