A Timaru telegram states that—Thomson, a young man aged 23, sentenced at the last sittings of the Supreme Court for embezzlement, was liberated on the Bth instant, ho being at the point of death from consumption. The weather in the Timaru district continues splendid for harvesting, which is going on rapidly. The quality of the grain promises to bo superior to any previous year.
