JOHN M'KAY, Proprietor. TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON IN THE ALEXANDRA, BLACKS, AND SURROUNDING DISTRICTS. THE PURE BRED CLYDESDALE ENTIRE HORSE Glasgow Geordie. Glasgow Geordie stands IG4 hands high, is a beautiful bright bay, with splendid legs, has very superior action, with almost faultless symmetry, ami has proved himself a sure foal getter. His dam Empress, own sister to Emperor, was bred by \V. 11. Valpy, Esq , out of Nancy (imported), by Napoleon (imported). Empress has gained the following prizes, viz:—Second in Dunedin in ISGG, beating Nimmo’s celebrated bay mare Kate, which ■was sold to go to Canterbury for L 220 in 1868 ; gained the second prize at Taieri and third at Dunedin, beating Nimmo’s old black mare Jean; and in 1870 gained second at Taieri, first at Shag Valley, and first at Blueskin. She was only exhibited six times, and was successful on each occasion. Nancy was by the famous Garvey horse, and was bred by Alex. Findlay, Esq., Saudyhills, near Glasgow, and was imported to Otago by W. 11. Valpy. Esq., per the ship Southern Cross, in 1856. Nancy was first shown as a three-year-old in 1854, and gained Frat Prize at Hamilton, First at Baillestown, Second at Glasgow, and Second at Kildbride. She was next year shown as brood mare at Glasgow and Kildbride, when she took Second Prize at both places. His sire, the celebrated imported horse Glasgow Geordie, by Champion, was bred by Mr Andrew Warnock, Bearyards, near Glasgow, out of his Prize mare Maggie, whoso stock were all prize-takers without exception, and, although most of them were sold when under two years old, they realized in the aggregate over L 1,200. Glasgow Geordie has taken the following prizes First at Maryhill, Kirkintullock Bishopbriggs, and Johnson; in 1807 he gained First Prize at Tokomairiro, First at Taieri. and First at Dunedin ; and 18G8, 1 First at Taieri, and Second at Dunedin. ' Champion gained prizes as a colt at al- ! most every show in Lanarkshire. When ' four years old he gained the First Prize of L4O and a Silver .Medal at Glasgow, where ; 28 horses competed ; when five years old he gained the First Prize of L4O and a Medal 1 at Gatehouse, O’Flect ; also the same year he gained the First Prize of L3O at the Highland Society’s Show, Dumfries ; when six old ho gained First Prize of L4O and Medal at Gatehouse, O’Fleet; when seven years old he gained tbe First Prize of L4O at Glasgow ; and the same year he gained the medium Gold Medal at the Highland Society’s Show at Kelso, being then outlawed for any othei thing than extra Stock; also First Prize of LSO at Carlisle, and Second at the Great International Exhibition, London, in the year 1802—thus showing Glasgow Geordie to bo a pure bred | Clydesdale, and combining the two best strains of blood ever imported to Otago—viz., Glasgow Geordie and Emperor, the owner of the latter last year refusing L 606 for him. Glasgow Geordie has won four first prizes (including the Tapanui first, 1878 and 1879), and also two second prizes. Terms : L 4. payable on or before the Ist February, 1881.
