JUDGE MEYMOTT.

It will he remembered that in hi.s place in the Parliament of New South Wales, Mr Dillon drew the attention of the Government to what ha considered the reprehensible practices of Ids Honor Judge Meymutt, and oven imputed som: very corrupt motives to some of Mr Mi-ymott’s decisions (of which, however, he lias been exonerated). These indirect charges led to a Royal Commission to inquire into and take evidence concerning his Honor’s conduct on the bench, and has resulted in the following statement “1. Habitual rudeness and discourtesy towards the pnetitioners who appeared-before him. 2. That he put pressure upon juries to find such verdio's as he thought should be.found, and when such- verdicts were not returned, indulged in disparaging remarks to or of the jurors ? and 3—the gravest charge of all —conducting the business of his courts, not with a view to mete nut justice to the parties concerned in "the’ cases that came before him : bm to save himself time and trouble.” The report also exonerates Mr Mf'j mott from the graver chaTges of corruption.
