Mr Donald StronacU (on bohilf of the New Z aland Loan anil Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows for the week ending November 3rd : Fat Cattle.—The market was well supplied to-day with 2l*l) head, of which about 70 were stores. Biddings were not very spirited, and last week's prices were scarcely sustained. Bullocks realised from 1.6 to LI 1 !0s per head, and cows La 7s C 1 to L 8 12s 61 ner head. We quote for prime beef 245, and for medium 22s 6.1, per 1001b. Fat Calves. —Twenty-five were yarded, which sold at from 28s to 40s. Fat Sheep.—2447 head were penned, of which GOO were merinos. The trade demand was very languid, and prices showed a decided decline from those of last week.' dross-bred sheep in the woe! fetched from 14s to 275, aud "born 7s 3J to 10s 31; merinos in the wool, from 8i to 9s 3 1 per head. We disposed of drafts as follows : On account of Mr J. C. Backhand, 132crossbredsin the wool at 12s 61, II merinos at 10s 91 ; on account of Mr Win. Sheepskins. —At our Weekly sale on Monday, wo offered a full catalogue, which met witli a spiritcl competition from a goo 1 attendance of buyers, and prices show a decided improvement on those of previous sale. Butchers* eross-brel skins realised from 4s 7d to 7s 9d ; merinos, 4s to 5s 4d ; lainl.skuis. !«; and pelts, 41 to off each. Hides.- We have cleared considerable consignments at late prices, and the demand 0 utilities good.' Tallow.—lnquiry is still limited, and the maiket wit.liout animation. We have disp 'sed of several lots at up to 24s per owt for medium duality. Grain —Wheat: The tone of the market is somewhat better, hut not sutfi ieutly so to warrant any improvement in quotations. Supplies of really prime, which is the quality chiefly in demand, are still small, and holders are expecting to realise hi.her prices. On the basis of actual business we cannot give higher quotations than th-.se of last week’s r n port— namely, 4s 61 to 4s 7d for prime milling, 3s 61 to 4s 3 I for inferior to medium. , Oats I Wo have no transactions to report, hut hear of sales of feed ovts at Is 41. We quote piiinc milling, nominal. Is 6 I to Is 8 I ; good feed, Is 41 to Is 61 per bushel. Barley : Frime samples for malting purposes are scarce, and would still command Ms 6! per bushel. No inquiry for inferior descriptions.
