STOCK REPORT.
Mr Donald Sci'onach (on behalf of the New Z aland Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows for the week ending October 27th : Fat Cattle. For today’s market at Burnside, 129 head were yarded, of which 87 were fat, the remainder being stores. The supply being small, biddings showed an improvement on last week’s rales al thougq the influence of late heavy purchases was still perceptible. Bullocks realised from I.G 5s to 1,12 2s G I, and cows L 8 10s to 1.10 per he„d. We offered a good draft of cows from the well-known Seadown herd, and sold 29 bead at quotations. For the stores, which were an ordinary mixed lot, L2 to 1.4 per head was realised. Quotation,for best beef, 25s per 10011-s. Fat Calves—4 were sold at from 5s Cd to 10s per bead. Fat Sheep.—Consequent on a much diminished supply r-which consisted of ISOS crossbreds and 221 merinos, in all 1514—an advance was established of fully Is per head. The cross-breds sold at 8s to 9s Cd for shorn, afew in the wool brought 14s 31; a few of Leicesters in the wool brought 20s each ; merinos shorn sold at from Gs 9d to 7-s. and woolly, 10s 6 b On account of Mr ,1. C. Bnckland wo disposed of a small draft of merinos (in the wool), at IDs 01 ; and on, account of \lr William Sham! of a draft of cross-breds in the wool, at 14s 3d. We quote mutton, IJd to pi per lb shorn. Fat. Lambs.—3lo were penned, and sold at 5s 9 I to 89. Wo sold on account of M' S=rs.T C Bnckland and William Shand, 144 head at 8; 3d to 8s 9 1.
Store Cattle.—We are expecting to offer a draft of store cattle for sale at Mo.-giel Yards, in about a fortnight. Country Sales.—We call attention to the advertisement in an other column of the sal" to be held on Friday, 5 hj November, of the Mount Stewart, Estate and stock, the property of Mr Thomas Murray. This offer a a highly advantageous opportunity to psrsona in want of a[ really valuable properly, or of first-class stock aud farming implements. Sheepskins.-Wo have held no sale during the past week. Hides.—AVc have plncep one or two lots during tl>.- week at highest current rites. Demand continues active. We quote 3-1 per lb for salted, and 20s each for butchers' green hi Ics.
Tallow. - Market still quiet, quotations showing no signs of improvement upon those of last week.
Grain—Wheat: Good samples are still in demand, but owing to bareness of the market sa'es are limited We quote for prime milling 4s Cd to 4s 7d ; medium, 4* to4s 31 ; inferior, 3s 31 to 3s 9d. Oats : riiere is a very little change in prices or demand to report. A fair enquiry for shipment still ovists, but quotations do not encourage buyers to operate. We quote p' ime milling Is 7d to la 8d ; good feed, Is 41 to Is Get. Barley : We have un sales to report. Good malting is very scarce, prices ranging as follows Prime making, 3s 61 j inferior to medium, 2s to 3a 3d.
