STOCK REPORT.
Mr Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows for the week ending October 2l)th :
Fat Cattle. —l9B bead were yarded at Burnside to-day, consisting chiefly of medium to really mime quality. This number was not excessive, but in consequence of recent markets having been fully supplied, the demand was languid, and last week’s prices were scarcely supported, excepting for a few pens of very prime quality, which showed an a Ivanco of '_’s G I per lOOlbs Bullocks realise 1 from 1.6 IDs to LI2 ss, and cows L 5 12s 01 to I,S 5s per bead. We sold, on account of Mr d. C. Bueklimd, 21 cows at from L 4 7s 61 to L 6 7» 61 ; and on account of Messrs Murray. Uoberts, and Co., from their Gladbrook Station, 15 head of superior bullocks at from L 9 10s to Lll 17s 6 1, and 10 heifers at from L7ss to 1.8 Quotation for prime beet 23s Gd (superior, 255) per 10011*8.
, Fat Calves.—2 yarded, fold at 14s and ISs 61.,
Fat Sheep were in full supply, 3017 head having been penned. The market was very dull, and there was ureat difficulty in effecting sales, last week’s quotations being barely maintained. Crossbreds in the wool sold at 12s to Ids, shorn 7s 61 to 9s 61 ; merinos in the wool 9s to 10s 6 1, and shorn os her head. Wo sold drafts of shorn crossbreds on account of Messrs J G. Grey, J. C. Gilchrist, and David Corsan, at from Ss 3d to-13s 61; and on. account of Mr-T. Davidson, of 193 crossqreds in the wool at 12s per head. We quote prime mutton barely. 241 per ll* in the wool, and 1 4 I per lb shorn. Fat Lambs.—34-1 offered, and sold at from 4s_ 64 to 8s 6d. We disposed of drafts on account of Messrs Robson and Gilchrist, at 4s and 7s 61 respectively. Store Cattle.—There are several enquiries for store cattle, and since our last report we have-disposed of about. 1000 head. Wool.—We sold a few small lo*s of fellmongers’ wool on Monday, as follows :--S and M, 1 halo secure 1 merinos, Is 4.11 ; 4 bales scoured combing crossbred, Is 4 I ; ATYH, 1 bale scoured locks, 10.1 ; also K. I bale greasy crossbred, 9} L and 1 bag greasy pieces, and black wool, O’-1. A few other lots offered not realising holders’ limits, have, been shipped. Sheepskins - .—We disposed of a small catalogue at our weekly auction on Monday which with fair competition realised about last week’s prices. Butchers’ crossbreds fetched .4s 6d,to 6s, and merinos 4s 61 to 5s ; skins in. bales, 641 per lb ; lambskins, up to lid dach. Hides.—The demand continues very firm at last quoted prices. Tallow,market still inanimate, and lower prices must be looked for both for tallow and fat.
Grain'.—Wheat : The enquiry reported last week has.eorftinned, but good quality being in very short supnly transactions are limited. We quote, as before, for prime
milling, 4i fid to 4s 71 ; and (or medium to good, 3a 31 to 4s 31 per.bushel. Oats: Local demand qaict. There is still an enquiry for shipment, but at present prices the margin for export is doubtful, Prime samples are still held for quotations above buyers’ ideas, and we doubt whether more than Is 8d could be got for prime milling. Feed are in full supply at Is (id for good, .and Is Id to Is 51 for inferior. Barley : Nothing fresh to report.
