BLACK’S DISTRICT FARMERS CLUB.
A meeting of farmers and others interested in the welfare of the district was held in Cavan’s hotel, Ophir on Monday evening last the 18th instant, with the view of forming a District Farmers’ Club Mr Robert M'Morran was voted to the Chair, and explained briefly the object of the meeting, and the very great advantage tho district would derive from an organization of the kind,
Mr J. C. Chapplo said, at the lato ploughing match at Mrs Millward’s White Horse the question was freely discussed, and it was then arranged that when twenty had signified their willingness to join, a mooting should he convened ; twenty.two names had been subscribed and the meeting was convened. He pointed out the many advantages to be derived from the farmers associating together, and thought from tho very large number of farmers within a radius of fifteen miles they should have no trouble in making it a grand success. Ho would propose —That a Farmers Club, to be called the “ Blacks District Farmers Club ” be formed, seconded by Mr Harrington and carried.. Discussion ensued as to the next step to be taken, and eventually it was decided that a Committee bo formed.
Unsolved—'That Messrs Hiving of Downs Company; M'Morran, T.and H. Men, and P. Jenkins of Wliite Horse ; Glass, Neville ■T. Sloan, P. M‘Donald, R. M'lntosh, and P. Flannery of Ida Valley ; J C. Jones, Cleary, Chappie, Corrigal. and J. White of Tiger Hill and Spottis Hundred ; J. Atkins of Lander Creek ; and Gavan, Harrington, C. Jones, MTntosh of Blacks with power to add to their number, bo and are hereby appoint'-d Members of Committee. Resolved -That each Member of Committee bo supplied with a list of the Committee and ho requested to canvass in his respective district for Members. Resolved—That the Committee meet for the Election of officers, and other business on the next Blacks Court day, November nth. The meeting then separated,
