Mr Donah! Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows fur the week ending October 13th : Fat Cattle, —l4O head were yarded at Burnside to day. Although the supply was under the average the demand was but languid, trade requirements having been so folly supplied from last week’s market. The result was a clecliue equivalent to about 2s Od per lOOlhs, Bullocks realised from Lo 2s 6d to Lll 10s, and cows L 6 10s to L 7 12s 61. We sold a few head of mixed cattle on account of Messrs Little Brothers. To-day’s price for heat beef may be given at 22s 6d per lOOlhs. Fat Sheep were in moderate simply, the number penned having been 1978 bead, consisting of 1673 cross-breds and 300 merinos. But ,hers having lirgely satisfied their wants lust week, 400 had to ne turned out unsold, and on those cleared, a decline of Is to Is 6.1 per head must be recorded The cross-breds sold at from 12s 6 I to 15s (shorn, at 8s 9 1), and the merinos at 9s 91 to 10s. Store Sheep.—AVe have particulars of several lots for sale from some of the best flocks in Otago and Canterbury. Wool. —The Brindisi mail, delivered this week, brought details of the London auctions down to 23th August, confirming the reports by telegram of a fall of \<\ tc Id on the coarser descriptions of cross-bred wools, as compared with the May-Juno series ; merinos, especially good-conditioned combing. having ruled at about previous sale prices. Sheepskins. —AA’c offered a good catalogue on Monday, which, with spiritol competition realised fully up to last week's prices. Butchers’ cross-bred' skins fetched from 4s 41 to Gs 3 I ; and merinos 3i G 1 to ds Id ; Lambskins Gd to 7d each.

Hides.—Theieis a very active demand at late prices, which can easily he obtained for all lots coming forward siy .'ij 1 per lb for wet salted, and 20s each for lurchers' green hides.

Tallow.- We have no transactions in tallow to report, but have made sab-s of rough fat at Kit per cwt. The market geuera'ly is qn'et. Grain.
