The History of the Essence's The Australian anti-fever tree- that is the blue gum, or eucalyptus globulus— taaaa now spread its fame throughout the wnr3d, but there are many who do not properly .estimate its splendid qualities. It haa be=en estimated that the Australian blue gurxrjs, which stud the face of the Colony, about five hundred million gallons of volatile oil, that is the mortal foe of fe'wer and ague. Every day in the year the foi e =sts of the colony are giving out aud exhaling in the form of vapour, an aromatic fragrar-nce to our breezes, and a health-giving essemace to our people. This fact is now recognis-ed by all scientists iu the world Its Claim as a Curative. It produces no spots whate tror, as every particle of it evaporates, nothing r<mains. In short, ichere a disinfectant is nceeSed, the pure essential eucalypti essence ougH-s to be the one you have recourse to, and no family ought to be without it. Fur all Wounds, Cuts, Burns, Scaldir-ngs, Ulcers, and Cancerous ll'ounds, a piece of linen wrapped round the suffering part, rand moistened with a few drops of the eucalypti essence, will stop all pain, and effect a speedy cure. In cases where a piece of li xnen cannot be applied, the moistening of the suffering part with the pure essence will- do as well. In case of Colds, moisten the nostrils a few drops and inhale the vapour, and ~*you will feel immediate relief, and entire riddance of the heat. In all casesivhere the Lungs may be A ted, the above-mentioned process, conti Dually repeated, will be the best that cars be advised. In cases of Rheumatism, a mixture of -one part of the pure essential eucalypti esse; nee with three parts of spirits of wine, '=vell rubbed in the suffering part, has acted feetter than any other remedy. In all cases of Inflammation, the esse=>no« may be applied to the part affected. In severe cases of Toothache of rheniri antic origin, the pure essence may be applied*- on the external part of the face. In cases of Inflammation of the Ryes, apaply the pure essence to the outside of the eyelids. Headache, and Rheumatic Pains in the Head are positively cured and removed, by rubbing the essence on the affected parts. For many cases of Severe Bruises the essence has proved the best remedy.
