We have been at some trouble to present to our readers a correct report of the pioceedings of the County Council, for two reasons. First because it is of importance that the ratepayers shmil know exactly how their representatives voted, and secondly, because the report in the Cromwell Argus is shamefully incorrect As the reporter of that paper was not present in the Council Chamber during the second day’s proceedings, and only occasionally present on the first day, it is certain that the report printed in the Argus has been furnished by some Councillor—probably the one who had the most need to gloss over his own conduct. It will be seen by the division list, which we reprint, that Councillor C dclough after moving that the Engineer’s office should be abolished, actually voted for the salary being retained as before at the rate of WOO per annum, Councillors Masters, Fraser, Jolly, and Fyke (Chairman), voting lor the smaller amount. Again we note that our Cromvell contemporary fails to acquaint its readers with the circumstan e that Cr Colc'ough presented a most hum ill* ating .spectacle, whoa compelled by the unanimous voice of the Council to apologize for his insulting behaviour to the Chairman.
