STOCK REPORT.
Mr Donald Stronacli (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows for the week ending Sent, inner 22ml ; Fat Cattle. — 1 oily 102 head were forward to-day, at Bnrrfside, for which there w r as a fair demand at somewhat oyer last week’s prices Bullocks fetched from LG 7s (id to LI3 2sG I per head ; and cows LG 2s GI to 1.9. Wesnld, on account of Mr William Shand, 20 head bullocks at LG 7s Gd to 1,9 2s G I ; and cows at LG 2s Gd to L 7 per head. Quotations for prime beef, 2os to 27s Gd per lOJlb. Fat Sheep— The market was well supplied with 2435 bead ; 1895 of which were cross lireds, and 540 merinos. For the to: mer 1,3s to 17s Gd per head was obtained; and for the latter 11s to lls 31, or about equal to last week’s values. Wo sold, on account of Mr J. (!. Grey, 1.55 head cf cross-breds-at 19s Cl to 17s (id ; an lon account of Messrs Fraser and M'Lean, 135 merinos at lls per head. We quote prime mutton, 2;(1 to 3 1 per lb. Fat Lambs.—9o were sold at from Gs to 10s 9d. We disposed of a small draft, on account of Mr .1. O. Gry,- at 10s, per head. Fat Pigs.—G7 were cleared at from Ids to 59s each.
Wool.—The improvement already reported in the tone of the London wool auctions appears to be well maintained. There is a fair local demand at good prices. On Monday wc sold a few small lots of scoured combine, at from 15} l to ISd ; and of greasy cross-bred, at 9 I to 9J I per lb. .Sheepskins.—Weoffered a largo catalogue on Monday at our weekly Sale. Competition Was scarcely ftp to' that of the previous Wsck, and in consequence prices were not well supported- Butchers’ crossbred skins realised from 2s 9.1 to os S.l, and merinos 3s 41to 4s S.l each. Station skins sold np to4s 71. Hi les remain nnehaft'ged from last week’s prices, at which the demand is good. Tallow.—Well rendered tallow may be quoted up to 27s per cwt., and rough fat up to 17s, at which we have cleared all parcels off ring. Grain —Wheat : Not much is doing, millers being pretty well supplied, and with the decline in’ the Home markets and large stocks in Australia',- anticipating a decline are indisposed to purchase. We quote 4s Gd for piime milling, 3s Cd to 4s for medium Oats : There is some inquiry, hut ns holders appear unwilling to relax their limits, very little business lias transpired. We quote Is Sd for prime milling and Is 5 I t'> Is 7d for feed. Barley : There is nothing fresh to report. At onr quotation of 3s 01 for prime malting there are buyers, hut there is very litttle of such qualify i» the market. Medium is difficult to p ace even at onr last week’s quotations of 2s 8,1 to 3s 31.
