STOCK REPORT.

Mr Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows fur the week ending September Sth : Fat cattle were in fair supply at Burnside to-day, when 190 head were yarded and sold at about last week’s prices. Bullocks realised, L 5 7s GltoLl2 12s Oil, and cows La to LIO 5s per head. Wo sold on account of Messrs Smith and Dornwcll, 40 head of bullocks from Messrs Fleming and Ilcdley’s celebrated Seadown herd, at from LlO to Ll2 12s 01. Quotation for best beef, 2Gs, and for medium, 20s per lOOlbs. Fat Sheep.—l7o7 head wore penned, consisting of 1219 cross-bred and 4SS merinos. The supply being small, prices showed an advance of about Is 6d per head the oross-breds fetching 9s Cd to IGs Gd, and the merinos 9s 9d to 12s 3d per head. We disposed of S3 head cross-breds at IGs

6d. We quote 2jjd per lb for prime mut ton.

Fat Lambs.—3o bead were sold at from 8s 9d to 13s Cd.

Fat Pigs.—sl were disposed of at from 33s to 42s Gd per head. Wool. Loudon daily reports continue to show some improvement, the increased firmness having extended to the coarser descriptions of cross-bred. Locally, there is not much doing. We cleared a small catalogue on Monday, consisting of fellmongers’ and odd statioit lots at prices on average f 1 to i 1 per lb. better than those obtained at our previous sale on the 9tll August.

Sheepskins. —Wo offered fair catalogue on Monday, which met with good competition, and all lots were disposed of at a further advance. Butchers’ cross-bred skins fetched frotri'Ss 4 1 to Os 2d ; merinos 2.i 7d to 5s 41 ; station skins, up to 3s lOd; and pelts, up to Is 4d. Hides—The maiket is unchanged, the demand continuing good at our previous quotations, say- 20s each for butchers’ green lilies, and 3j I per lb. for wet salted.

Tallow.--We have placed several parcels at prices ruling at date of our last report, say—for well-rendered tallow, 22s Cd to 27s per cwt., and for rough fat 15s to 17s, at which all consignments coming to hand can titidjbuyers. Grain.—The market for all descriptions remains very quiet, and buyers’ immediate wants being fully supplied they evince no disposition to increase their stocks. Holders’ ideas of price, however, continue fully maintained. Quotations are generally about same as last week, say—Wheat : Prime milling, 4s Cl to 4s 91; medium, 3s Cd to -Is 3,1 Oafs : Prime nulling. Is 4d ; good feed, is 61 to Is 7d. Harley: Prime malting, 3s 01, nominal ; ordinary to good, 2s C l to ss, nominal.
