STOCK REPORT.
Mr Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows for tbo Week ending IStb August : Fat Cattle.—There was a very excessive supply forward at the yards to-day, and there was consequently little or no competition on the part of buyers. Of the SCI head yarded about 70 were only stores, wliiih were taken by graziers. Best bullocks brought from LG 7s G 1 to LI 2 ; do cows, Lo 10s to LlO 7s Cd—or equal to 21s to 22s Gl per 1001b for prime quality, and ISs for medium. We sold 45 bead at quotations, on account of Messrs Jno. Duncan, I’. Darling, Alex. Thomson, and Waldie. Fat Sheep.—A fair supply of 1814 came fnrwaul, consisting of 1544 crossbreds and the remainder merinos. There was a good demand, and prices experienced a slight improvement over last week’s. Best crossbreds brought from 10s 9d to IGs, and merinos 7s Gd to 10s 3d—or equal to about 2ijd to 3d porlb. We sold 375 on account of Walter Miller, Esq. Sheepskins.— Prices realised at our weekly auction on Monday last barely supported previous week's values. Batchers’ crossbred skins fetched from 3s to 5s 7d ; merinos, up to 4s 01; station skins, Is 2d to 4s 5d each; skins in bales 4s per lb. Hides.—We report further sales at late prices, say per lb for wet salted, and 20s each for butchers’ green hides. The market has a downward tendency. Tallow.—Market firm at last week’s prices, at which all lots coming to hand can bo placed. Grain. — Wheat j Our last quotations are
well maintained, and inquiry is good, particularly for first-class samples, with a tendency to higher values. Prime milling has changed hands at 4s fid, ex warehouse and wo have made salts at Domain at 4s 3d on trucks. Medium descriptions would realise up to 4s 2d. Fowl feed is in limited demand ; we quote, as before, 2-s it] to 3s 3d pci’ bushel. Oats : Market somewhat better, as buyers evince ran-e disposition to meet sellers’ ideas. We quote prime milling, at Is Bd, and first-class feed at Is Cd to Is 7d, at which sales have been made during the week. Barley ; Demand quiet, especially for medium and inferior. First-class malting can he placed without difficulty at previous rates. Wo repeat last week’s quotations, namely, prime malting 3s 3d to 3s Cd ; fair malting, 3s per bushel.
