CLYDE ATHENÆUM AND PUBLIC LIBRARY.
A meeting of the Trust was held in the Committee Room on Monday evening Inst, the 19th inst.
Present—Messrs J. U. Cambridge (in the chair), B. Naylor, C. Attfield, and Geo. Fache, (secretary). The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Inward correspondence, including circular from Education Board to the effect that the Trust could select hooks to the extent of L.'tO, which sum was due them. Statement from County authorities, showing amounts still duo to the Trust. Letter from Air S. Dewar, complaining of illustrated papers not being now supplied the Library, and other . correspondence, was laid on the table. Resolved—That a selection of books hi at once made from tho English catalogue supplied by the Education Board.
Resolved—That the Secretary write to those parties who still arc indebted to the Trust on account of the old Corporation, and demand immediate payment. It was explained that since Mr H. Hotop had discontinued supplying the Library with papers and magazines, no fresh arrangement had been entered into.
Resolved—That Mr Braithwaite, Dunedin, be requested to supply the following: —Melbourne Leader, Home News, Illustrated London News, Chambers’ Journal, Harper’s Monthly, and Temple Bar, the whole to date back from last dates on hand.
Resolved—That the Secretary of 1.0. G.T. be informed that the Trust cannot supply fires, it not being in the arrangement entered into.
Resolved—That Mr J. U. Cambridge bs requested to prepare plans and specifications and frame esiimate of cost of a permanent stage in hall.
Accounts amounting to Ll3 18s Cd wee passed for payment. The Librarian was instructed to collect all overdue subscriptions. The meeting then dissolved.
