Turkey and Greece are both arming, in, view of possible hostilities resulting from the carrying out of dihe decisions of the decisions of the Conference. The Board of Trade returns of imports for the past month amount to L3O 437,530, showing an increase of 1.2,025,000, as compared with last year. The exports amount to H5,437,500, showing an increase of L1,975;503 as compared with the same period last year. The Ben Nevis, from Lyttelton, arrived on April Cth.

It is further stated that this is an indication that the Chinese Government desires to make peace with Russia. The total quantity of wheat alloat for Great Britain is 1,720,000 quarters.

The Duke of Manchester, who is about to visit Melbourne in the capacity of Honorary Commissioner of the Melbourne International Exhibition, will leave England by the Orient steamer Sorata, which is appointed to sail on July 21st.

The Sultan is act ing on the advice of the ulemas, and is exhibition a determination to rely on the fanaticism of the Mahommedans. Inslmc tions have been given for the mobilisation of the army, and large numbers of discharged soldiers have been ordered to rej lin

their regiments. Official intimation has been given to the Sultan that in the event of a warlike <U - nmnstratiou on the part of Turkey th French anil English fleets will protect Greece. This announcement has had a

reassuring effect. There are grave reasons to believe that Turkey is preparing to resist by force oi arms any attempt made to compel the cession of territory to Greece and Montenegro. Turkey calculates upon having the support of Russia in assuming an attitude of do fiance.
