A NEW GOLDFIELD.

Some information whioli has been officially obtained about the rumoured gold discovery between the Paringa and llaaat Rivers, confirms the suggestions that have been inS.de ad to the possible natufe of the new fields, but it also makes certain that the nature of the country is such that anything like a rush would result in very great Buffering. It is said that two men, named Kinnard and Tan, were out prospecting for seven months. They got but little gold, chiefly from creek beds. Then they found rough gold on the top of a high spur, ami following up certain indications they succeeded during seven weeks in getting something over four pounds weight of gold. They strove for more than two months to bring water to the terrace where the find was chiefly made, hut failing they returned to Plfringa. The gold is nug, ety, and one piece of it weighs about five ounces. Traces of quartz can he seen adhering to several of the hits. The part of the country in which Kinnard anil Tail worked is described as between Abbey Rocks and the Moeraki Lake. It, as well as another large tract, from tire Abbey Rocks to the Waita, was before known to be auriferous, and a road, which is in course of construction, will run within five miles of the former, and will practically open up the latter ; but all authorities agree that the difficulties in the way of getting provisions to KiunaiaTa Terrace or its neighbourhood are \cry great indeed, and that they should deter from the attempt all who cannot incur considerable expense and enduic great hardship.
