STOCK REPORT.

Mr Donald Stronach (on behalf of the Few Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows for the week ending 19:h May: Fat Cattle were again in good supply at Burnside to-day, 230 having been yarded (of which 33 were stores). Fat bullocks realized from L 7 to Ll 1 10s, and cows up to L 6 12s Gd per bead. We disposed of another draft on account of Mr Samuel Garforth (of Canterbury), consisting of prime well-conditioned bullocks, at from L 9 10s to HI 10s, or equal to fully 25s per lOOlbs. Quotations generally ruled about the same as last week, say 22s Cd to 2os for prime, and 18s to 21s pet lOOlbs for indifferent beef.

Fat Calves.—Twelve head wore sold at 12s to 355.

Fat Sheep. - 2232 were penned, and sold at 4s 9d for merino, and from 10s 9d to 12s Gd for crossbreds. We cleared, on behalf of Mr John Duncan, of Cherry Farm, 191 head at 10s Gd and 10s 91 ; and also a draft on account of Mr J. O. Grey, at Ids 9d. The demand was fair, blit prices were 1 rarely up to those of last market. Quotation for best mutton about 21 per lb.

Fat lambs.—so head were sold at Ss G I. Wool,—Telegrams from Loudon during the past week have not been encouraging as to the state of the market there, which by latest advices was reported quiet with downward tendency. Wo wait anxiously in hopes of a return of confidence at the renewal of the sales this evening, after the Whitsuntide holidays. Sheepskins.—Supplies forward at the auctions this week have been small. Our catalogue oh Monday was cleared at some improvement on last week’s rates. Ibices obtained wore as follows Butchers’ crossbred skins, 2s 81 to .Is 41 ; merino up to 2s Gd ; station skins up to 3s 10d. Hides are unchanged at last week’s quotations, at which we are placing all coming forward, say 20s each for batchers’ green hides, and 3|d per lb for wet-salted. Tallow.—We qiiote as before, 2os for well rendered tallow, and IGs per cwt for rough fat. Grain.— Wheat : Beyond sales of a few small parcels for shipment transactions hat-fi beefi almost nil, and last week’s prices are scarcely maintained, except for the

very best parcels. Such descriptions might be placed at about 4s ; but for inferior qualities there is no enquiry. Fowl’s feed is nominally as before, 2s Gd to .'ls, but the supply is in excess of the demand. Oats : The demand does not improve, and consi-

derable stocks are being held in hopes of a better market. At present Is 4d is the top price for feed Data. Barley : Demand very slack, and our last week’s quotations could scarcely be secured. We quote, nominally, ii-i GJ for first-class mailing.
