STOCK REPORT.

Mr Donald Stronach (on beh ilf of tho New Zealand Loan and .Mercantile Agcncv Company, Limited) reports as follows for the week ending 12th May: _ Fat Cattle were in good supply at burnside to-day, when 20 wore yarded, only a small number of which ware prime. The demand for medium and inferior was languid, hut that for best quality was good. Bullocks fetched from Ei>‘lss to £l3, and cows £5 us to £G IDs per head. We disposed of drafts on account cf Messrs W. .1. Lamach, William Bhand, and Samiv-1 U::rforth (of Cantorburv), that on account of tho last named consisting of 2d head of very prime well-bred bullocks, which realised full prices, the range being from £0 17s 01 to £ll 15s per head. We quote beef, 22s (id to 255; and medium quality, ISs to 20 1 per lOOib. Fat Calves. —Only I! heal were brought forward, which sold at 25s to O'Js nor head. *

Tat Sheep'. - 2G92 were penned, of which 701) were stores. The latter sold at .'is (! I to 4s ffd per head. The market was good, and last week's prices were fully maintained. Cross-broils sold for from 9so Ito 14 1, and merinos from SsO 1,

We sold two small drafts on account of .Messrs T. Davidson, Mataura, and \V. 11. -Miller Manuka Creek. Quotation for prime mutton may be given as fully 2sd per lb. Fat Lambs,—hO were disposed of at 9s to 9s Gd, according to the size and condition. Store cattle are not in very good demand at present. We report sales of 200 head of mixed cattle at fair prices. Store sheep are in great demand, hut not obtainable. Wool. —We are glad to ohrerve by telecrams of the daily progress of the sales in London that the market was resuming a tinner aspect, and hope that further advices will show completely restored confidence and a return to the improvement which was reported during the earliest days of the present senes. At our auction on Monday we disposed of several lots, at prices which on the whole equal those previously current, namely : -Creasy wool, N’t) over IJ3, 1 hale lambs, SJ.I ; Wl) over 0, 1 do cross-bred, IK’ 1; BU in triangle, 8 hales Ist and 2nd combing and clothing lO.bl ; 2 hales Ist and 2nd combing crossbred, Kljd ; -1 hales stained double fleece and fixed, 94 ; 5 bales various, Gjd ; 1 halo locks, 4d ; V in diamond, 1 bale washed cross-bred pieces, 9J; also 01 bags at up to Bjd for fleece, and 9yd for cross-bred. Sheepskins.—At our weekly auction on Monday we offered a large eataloue. There was a good attend nice of buyers and fair competition, but prices showed some decline on those of previous week. The following were the quotations obtained :

Butchers’ skins—merino. Is 0d to 2s 5d j cross-bred, is 51 to 3s ; full woolied skins, up to 4s "d; station skins in hales, up to Ci-d per lb ; lambskins, Is 01 to 3s earli. Hides.—We have disposed of considerable parcels at prices quoted in our last—3yl per pound for wet salted, and 20s each tor butchers’ green hides. Tallow.—The market is unchanged. Transactions have taken place at '~2os per owt for good, and IGs for rough Drain. —V. heat is dull of sale, the rates of last week being barely supported, as the demand for shipment has diminished, and millers aro small purchasers at present. We quote 4s as the nominal top price for the very best samples of milling wheat, and 2s Gd to Ms for fowl feed. Oats ; Sales have been made at Is M l to Is 41 for food oats, but the inquiry is very limited. For milling is od may be quoted, the demand is however hut shack. Barley: For malting the utmost that can he obtained is :h 01? and wo have sold fair quality at Ms. The tendency of the market is downward.
