CLYDE ATHENÆUM AND PUBLIC LIBRARY.
The usual monthly meeting of the Committee was held in the Town Hall Chamber on Monday evening last, the 17th inst. Present— Messrs P. J. Wilson (in the chair), J. E. Stevens, J. U. Cambridge, C. Attfield, and Geo. Fache.
The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed
A circular from the Education Hoard, asking the Committee to supply a list of books required, as the Board was about sending to England for a fresh supply. The Secretary was instructed to apply for catalogue, at tho same to ask what amount of subsidy is due the Committee as per last returns furnished. Accounts for 1.6 7s were passed for payment.
The Secretary was instructed to simply Librarian and Mall-carer with a written code of his duties.
On a question raised as to whether certain sums due to the late Town of Clyde for water-race duos and bridge tolls had ever been collected by the County authorities, and with the view cf arriving at the true state of Trust accounts, it was resolved —That the Secretary write to the County Cleric, and ask for a general statement of monies collected on account of the late Town of Clyde, and the amounts still unpaid.
