Summonses have been issued against two well known citizens of Auckland for alleged tampering with grand and potty jurors in the case of S. K. Hughes, charged with indecent assault.

At Invercargill, recently, Thomas Flynn, a bootmaker, filed a notice in bankruptcy for LCO, and was afterwards discovered to have afterwards withdrawn LOO from the bank. On being taxed with this ho gave up LB6. The bankrupt was brought up at the District Court, and remanded for eight days. The Judge intimated that the creditors would receive the amounts due iu full, and that the balance would go toward the expenses of a prosecution. At Melbourne, the prospectus has boon issued of a Freezing Company under the dry air process, with a capital of LIOO.OOO. The sum of L 40,000 has already been subscribed, and the Company will commence operations as soon as the subscriptions amount to LDO,OOO.

At Napier, on the 2(3th instant, there was great sensation when it was discovered by the boy who opened the Corporation offices that the floor of the office was in a blaze. The flames were extinguished before any material damage was done. It is supposed to have been the act of a dork engaged in the office, and who has confessed to having embezzled monies belonging to the Corporation, and had falsified his books to hide defalcations, but denies setting lire to the place. Flynn, the bootmaker at Gore, has been committed for trial for fraudulent bankruptcy. He said he had kept back the money to send to his parents in Ireland, they being threatened with eviction.

At Napier, on the 27th instant, William Henry Shaw, late rate receiver, was charged uL lire 11. M. Court- wILU selling 111 n in Lhn Corporation buildings, and remanded for eight days. A notification by the Governor of New South Wales cancels the reward offered for the capture of the Kellys at the end of three months, but continues the pension for the wives and children of men killed or injured in attempting the capture of the bushrangers.
