CLYDE ATHENAEUM AND PUBLIC LIBRARY.

The “tishal monthly meeting of the Committee was held on Monday evening, the 19th inst., at S p m. Present—Messrs V. Pyke (Chairman), C. Attfield, J. U. Cambridge, B. Naylor, J. E. Stevens, and G Faohe (Secretary). The minutes of previous meetings were read and confirmed.

The correspondence as follows was read . From Mr M‘Arthur, late Provincial Government Engineer, demanding payment of his claim of L 5 ss, for inspecting the Clyde Bridge. From Mr ,W- Auckland, denying all knowledge of any indebtedness by the late James Taylor to tbe Trust at the time he took order from Mr Taylor for monies due him by the Trust, and asking for full payment. From Mr S. Welsford, asking the Trust to construct a Water-iace on a higher level for the benefit of residents living under the terrace. Resolved—That Mr M ‘Arthur be informed that the Trust decline to recognise his claim. Resolved—That the Trust decline to forego their claim to the 1.5 due by the late James Taylor. Resolved—That a Committee consisting of tho Chairman, and Messrs Attfield and Cambridge and the Secretary ex njjlcio, be appointed to consider on the best means of improving the water supply to the town of Clyde. Three to form a quorum, aud to report to tho next meeting of tbe Trust. The meeting then separated.
