BANNOCKBURN .

1 have not much news since iny last communication. 1 may commence by stating that the Opera BoulTe Company visited this place last week, and were very well patronised, and the people were highly pleased at the entertainment. In mining matters there is very little to report, but is as follows : —Reeling matters are looking up a little. A. Rantoul and party have struck good stone in the old Oak claim, and they intend to have a crushing out in about six weeks. William Radford will finish Cushing in about a week, and I anl informed that it will yield about an ounce to the ton. Samuel Williams and party started crushing last week—this party have got about 200 tons to crush, and of very good stouc, and well they Are deserving of it. P. Pattisou and party are still driving away in their tunnel—this party have a great deal of water to contend with, and they expect to cut the reef every day. The “ Star of the East ’’ is still idle, which is a great pity as this claim was one of the best ou the Garrick. In alluvial, things are looking very bright—William Griffiths and P. Grenfell are leaping a golden harvest, and it is stated that they are making from forty to fifty pounds per man a week: this claim is in very stoney ground, and therefore requires but little water to work it, about three-quarters of a head being all they use. The Perseverance Company is also making good money, and from information as good as in Griffith’s claim, and in this claim (Perseverance) a share changed hands recently for a good round sum, Price Evan Jones being the purchaser, and P. Grenfell the seller. Stevens and Edwards are also making good wages, considering they only can get three or four days’ water a week. The brothers Meuzie are sfocf doing very well. David Jones and party are making good headway with their tail-race iu Pipeclay gully, and have a very good prospect ahead of them. On the Flat things are veryj quiet on account of water being so scarce. The Pipeclay sludge channel is at a standstill tor the want of funds so 1 am informed. L now conclude this communication and hope that the County Council will not forget us.
