Beneath the rule of men estirui.yjcst</i ten is mightier than the sword.
During the hearing ot an appeal against the County Assessment heard in the Clyde Court on Saturday last, before Major Keddell, it came out in evidence that in consequence of the large increase of rabbits, the appellants’ run would not carry by 6000 sheep what it would three years ago, and that the fleece was nothing like so good, either in quantity or quality, while the per centage of lambs for the past year was only about 30 per cent. It further transpired that during the time over LIOOO had been expended in the effort to keep the rabbits down. From the above some idea can be formed of the ravages this pest is commit, ting, and is a strong argument why the Babbit Trustees should enforce to the full extent the powers conferred on them by the Babbit Nuisance Act.
