CLYDE SCHOOL.

A meeting of the Committee was held in the Town Hall Chamber on Wednesday evening, the 17ch inst. Present—F J. Wilson (in the chair), and Messrs Attfield, Cambridge (Secretary), Clark, Fache, Joss The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman stated that the first business of the meeting was to make application for a pupil teacher. The average attendance at the school was 110, and it must be evident that two persons could not do justice either to themselves or to so largo a number of scholars. To the master he said the appointment was not an nilmixed idessing, as though it relieved him of a good ileal of drudgery with the younger scholars, it entailed live hours’ extra work, as he had to give that lime to teaching the pupil teacher. The appointment was, however, desired, and as the School Inspector (Mr Petrie), and Mr Pryde (the Secretary) said they would recommend the appointment, the Committee should make the application. Resolved—That application he made to the Education Board for a pupil teacher. The Secretary stated that Mr Petrie and Mr Pryde, during their visit to Clyde, had noticed the very had closet accommodation, and had informed him that if application was made for new closets limy would recommend them. Resolved—That application be made to the Beard for new closets. Resolved—That the Board be asked what proportion of cost of fencing in the School Reserve they will pay. Resolved - That a Sub-Committee consisting of Messrs Clark, Attfield, and Cambaidge, be appointed to see what repairs are necessary to the schoolmaster’s residence, and that they be empowered to expend a sum not exceeding LlO on same. Accounts for books, L 7 2s 41, and repairs, LI 18s, were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
