ALEXANDRA SCHOOL.
Tho annual statutory meeting was held in the School-house, Alexandra, on Monday, the 2fith inst. Mr G. N. M‘Donald was voted to the chair. The Secretary then read tire report and balance sheet of the retiring Committee, which were approved and adopted, as follows “ lu submitting their report for tho past session, your Committee have groat pleasure in stating that the prosperity' of the School continues to increase, and that the utmost confidence and cordiality exist between the Committee and the teachers, not a single complaint having been brought bef .re the n -rice of the Committee. “ The following jeport will show the attendance of scholars and the financial state of ih« SchoolTotal on roll at beginning of year ... 104 Enrolled during year ... ... 33 Number on roll during year ... 142 Number who left during the year ... 35 At present on roll ... ... 107 Average for Ist quarter of year ... 93 j do 2nd do ... 80 1 do 3rd do ... 72 do 4ih do ... 89 “ Your Committee took ofiioe with a debit balance of ISs 111. an) during the ! past year have expends - L3l 11a 6 i in fuel, cleaning, water-tank, and neco-si-y repairs ; and have receive" Lao from the Education Board, leaving a credit balance of LlO 8s 71 “ Your Committee have also had tho old portion of the school-rooms whitewashed and painted, ’he payment of which with other small outstanding accounts, will sweep away mo>t of the available funds “ Your C mimittee have to congratulate you on the erection of 'he new class room, which wi 1 greatly promote the health an! comfort of the scholars. “ Your Committee have taken steps to bring prominently hj fore the n dice of the Education Board what appears to have been an oversight when settling the contract for the new room, viz , tho omission to supply necoss try school furniture, black hoards, map rack, press, table, &c., anil a ven'ilator for the other room. “ Your Committee have received repeated complaints Tom the master of the di'apidated and dangerous con lition of the ceiling of his residence, the plaster being broken and tumbling down, which your Committee have asked the E Incation B mrd to have repaired without del ly, and which in retiring from office we hope our successors will not neglect to have attended to as soon as possible, the furniture and repairs being urgently required.” The election of tho Committee for the ensuing year th.m took place, and resulted in the following gentlemen being electel : Messrs J. Rivers, Win. Fraser, U. Finlay, j G. N. M'D malii, J.
