CLYDE SCHOOL.
The Annnual Statutory Meeting was held in the School-house on Monday evening last the 26th instant.
Mr P J. Wilson was voted to the Chair. The minutes ot the last Annual meeting were read and confirmed.
The Secretary read the Report and Balance-sheet, as under, for the year 1879, when it was proposed hy Mr Hold en, and seconded hy Mr Faehe, that the Report and Balance-sheet, as read, be received and adopted. C arried.
Report. The retiring Committee are happy to say that the school has prospered during the past year. The number of children on the Roll at the end of the school year was 129 being an increase of 24 in the year, the sexes arc very even namely CO boys and (id girls. The average attendance also shows an increase of 12 -47 boys and 47 girls attending.
The school buildings have been improved by the election of roomy porches with pegs therein for hats &c. The Education B card having been at this expense. Proper fences are a great need and will have chiefly to be provided at local expense The Committee congratulate the parents that the school is still under the charge of j Mr and Mrs Stevens. It is of great cemse- I quencethat the teachers he changed as sel- ; flora as possible, and the Committee con- I aider that the best thanks are due to the; present teachers, particulary Mrs Stevens who has a number of little children to control which she does with success. Three boys competed for the junior scholarship in December but were not successful —seeing that there were nearly 100 competitors, the Committee feel this to lie no discouragement. BALANCE SHEET. Attfield, G. Clark. A. Joss, J. U. Cambridge, B Naylor, P J. Wilson, C. Holden, 8. Weisford, J. Holt, V. Pyke and W. Fraser. The ballot was then taken, and resulted in the election of Messrs W. Fraser, F. J. Wilson, G. Faehe, C. Attfield, A. J >ss, G. Clark, and J. U. Cambridge, as Members of Committee for the current year. The Chairman read the notice to the Committee appointing Friday, 30th instant for the first meeting at the School-h rase. Mr Webb tproposed, and Mr Faehe seconded, That a vote of thanks he returne 1 to the retiring Committee.—Carried. Mr Faehe proposed, and Mr Holden seconded, That a vote of thanks he conveyed to Mr ahd Mia Stevens for their exertions, as Master and Mistress of the School.— Carried. A vote of thanks to the Chair terminated the mowing.
