They may he worth their study, and repay perusal in enlightening them upon a subject of practical utility. The History of the Essence’s Discovery. The Australian anti-fever tree- that is the blue gum, or eucalyutus ylobu'us—hua now spread its fame throughout the world, but there are many who do not properly estimate its splendid qualities. It has been estimated that the Australian blue gums, which stud the face of th£ Colony, contain about live hundred million gallons of pure, volatile oil, that is the mortal foe of fever and ague. Every dsty iu^he-yAr the forests of the colony are ufvmg out agrl exhaling in the form of vapodr, an arSmatic "fragrance to our breezes/and a health-giving essence to our people/ This fact is now recognised by all scientists in the world Its Claim as a Curative. It has now become the fashion with the inventors of discoveries of remedial agents to claim something little short of ii.fu.UiDi ity and universability of cure for their respective agents. Messrs Sander and Sons did nothing of the sort. They have conlidence that their essence possesses many virtue- ; but the full extent of these they do not know yet. They are now collecting data, and they are most careful and searching in performing tills. It is quite sure then, that th ir eucalypti essence can fairly assert itS' lf to he a grand panacea for many of the ills that Ike hj is heir to. In Scarlet, Typhoid, or any case of Fever, nothing will protect better against contagion than a few drops of the essence poured in the palm of the hand, ami rubbed in, in order to liberate the vapors, or sprinkled over the clothes. The perfume will be noticed for a length of time Inwardly used, take three or four drops in half a tumbler of water. The essence effects a most surprising change of the whole constitution. correcting indigestion, and creat ing a heabliv appetite. For C hi ilren Attending Schools, the same mode may be adopted. In Cases of Sickness, a few drops put into a saucer, and put into the room will, being an etherie essence, evaporate, and liil the room with the purifying vapor. Are you, ohliyed to Travel! A few drops occasionally rubbed on the body, will pro tect against any contagion you may be exposed to, in coming direct with sick persons, or in sleeping in ihe same room with, or in beds occupied previously by sick persons. It produces no spots whateve , as every vurticle of it evaporates, and nothing 1-mima In sho.t, inhere a disinfectant is needed, the pure < s-entiai euca'ypti essence ought to be the one you have recourse to, and no family ought to be without it. For all Wounds, Cuts, Burns, Scaldinys, Ulcers, and Cancerous ll'ouni/s, a piece of linen wrapped round the Buttering part, and moistened with a few drops of the eucalypti essence, will stop all pain, and effect a speedy cure. In cases where a piece of linen cannot be applied, the moistening of the suite ring part with the pure essence will do as well. In case of Colds, moisten the nostrils with a few drops and inhale the vapour, an you will feel immediate relief, and entire riddance of the heat. In all cases where the Lungs may he Affected, the above-mentioned proee-s, continually repeated, w ill bo the best that can be advised hi cases of Rheumatism, a mixture of one part of the pure essential eucalypti essence will three parts of spirits of wine, well rubbed iii the suffering part, has acted better than any other remedy. In all cases of Injtamunition, the essence may be applied to the part affected. In severe cases of Toothache of rheumatic origin, the ptne essence may be applied on the external par of the face. In cases if Inflammation of the Byes, apply the pure essence to the outside of the eyelids. Headache, and Rheumatic Pains in the Head are positively cured ami removed bj rubbing 'be essence mi the affected parrs. For many cases if Si cere Bruises the es some has proved the best remedy.
