We have to apologise for the omission from this issue through piessure of space, of a second portion to our Blocks’ letter, and a number of local items We invite the special attention of our readers to the report and balance-sheet of the Bank of New Z-aloud for the past hdfyear. The Balance-sheet shows, that after dividing L 73.500 in’ a divioend of 15 per cent., LIBO,GOO is added to the reserve fund and 1 6,000 of a balance is c Tried forward to the new profit and loss account. Tho report is clear, dealing fully not alone with the prospects of the Bank but of the Colony, and shows that both are in a thriving Conditiiin, despite the trying times of <'eprossion the Colonies have been laboring under for some time past. The party of surveyors for tho completion of the North Otago railway arrived in C-yde on Wednesday last, and proceeded on the following day (yesterday) to fix their camp at Adams’s Gully, about four miles on the way to Cromwell. We understand their i structions are to continue tho survey of the line at present so far as Ciomwell only, but we should imagine when tiny once more are on the ground they will not again leave the work till it is finished to Wanaka.
