WANAKA RACES.
These races came off successfully on Friday and Saturday last. There was a good muster of sporting men from all parts of the district. The races had been advertised for Thursday and Friday, hut on account of the drenching rain on Thursday the stewards very wisely postponed them. Mr Waddell s Rangatira maintained his reputation by winning very easily the two principal handicaps (value L4O), and Mr Eonghnan was the next highest winner with L.'IO. There was a ball on Thursday evening at Mis Rnssell’s, which was well patronised. The following are the various events;— First Day. Maiden Plate of 15 sovs. One mile.
