A treaty of alliance between Austria ami Germany was signed on the 15th instant. London, October 24th. Lord Hartingtou, at a Liberal demonstration of Manchester, stated that the abdication of Yakonb Khan precluded the possibility of a British Resident at Cabul without sufficient protection. The Liberal party called on the powers to respect treaty obligations, and would insist on the Government that England should combine with Europe for the maintenance of peace, to oppose aggression, and- to protect the weak Dispatches from Sir Garnet Wolseley, dated October 7th, stated that annexation was irrevocable, and he recommended the Government to acquiesce in the same. News from Cape Town to October 15th states that the troops had been sent to Mi l ileburgh, owing to disturbances among the Boers. The Berlin correspondent of the News states that Russia is preparing to despatch two expeditions —one from Newberg, under General Kauffman, the other drawn from the Oaucassus, to bo concentrated on Afghan st-m—to assist the tribes against England. Other papers publish similar rumors. The Boers publicly insulted Sir Garnet Wolseley. They were moat determined in exdressing their resolution i f violently resisting the annexation policy. Madras, October 2G. The P. and 0 strainer Hindustan has been totally wrecked on the coast. The loss of life is unknown. London, October 27The Orient Company and the I ondon, Pacific, and Liverpool Company have arranged for fortnightly steamers to Australia, commencing in January next. Paris, October 27.
