There were about 2-10.000 people present at the opening of the Exhibition yesterday. The weather was tine. The N-w Zealand court at the Exhibition is completed. I availed myself of the opportunity to compare the New Zealand fabrics from Mosgiel and Kaiapoi with those from Europe and from other Colonies From Galashiels, Scotland, Cochrane, Brown, and Sons send a large display of tweeds, which excel in material, being of large paten, soft, and thick. Burchall, of Leeds, sends closer tweeds of harder texture, and broadcloths. Vicars, of Sydney, shows goods very similar to those from New Zealand. The Parramatta Company’s are not so good. I have not yet discovered any Melbourne, Geelong, or Ipswich wools thus far. Althrongh New Zealand shows nothing indcntical with same of Galashiels, its woollens are quite equal to anything of the same kind seen, excepting the exhibit of Saxony woollens, by Ivlemm and Forest, in the German court, which are especially admirable for softness of texture and general finish of surface.
