INSURRECTION IN CABUL.
[By Cable.] Bombay, September Cth. A violent mutiny has broken out among the troops in Cabul. The mutineers, joined by tiie inhabitants, attacked and tired the British residency. The Ameer, Yakoob Khan, who did his utmost to quell the rebellion, was besieged in his palace. The fate of the British Embassy is unknown. The British advance force at the Shuter Garden Pass, under General Rolierts. will immediately advance on Cabul. General Stewart is ordered to hold Candahar ami the Khyber Pass. Another force will operate from Jellalabad. September 7th. Reliable Natives report having seen the bodies of British officers at Cabul. Nine of the British residents and an escort escaped. General Roberta was directed to release ~ the Ameer. London, September Bth. News from Afghanistan states that Cavagnari fell gallantly in defending the Residency, the staff and all the meraners of the household sharing the same late. Nine Sowars escaped. There is intense emotion throughout India. The re-invasion is promptly proceeding, and it is demanded that Cabul shall be dismantled, as a punishment for the massacre.
