CLYDE ATHENÆUM AND LI BRARY TRUST.
A meeting of the Trust was held in the Committee room of the Library on August 29. 1879.
Present Vincent P\ ke, Esq., President, ami Messrs 8. Naylor, (Treasurer) F, J. Wilson, ,T. E. Stevens, A. Joss, S. Weisford, and G. Fache, (Hon, Secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting Were re id and confirmed. A letter from Mr W. Arthur, late Provincial Engineer, addressed to the County authorities, asking payment of L 5 55., flue by the iate Borough of Clyde fur examining the Clyde bridge, was read. It was explained that the late Borough would not recognise the claim as they considered that Mr Arthur made inspection of the bridge in his public capacty. After discussion it was resolved—That the Trust make it an instruction to the Vincent County authorities not to recognise the demand. The President laid on the table Statement of the Trust (late Borough of Clyde) account since the merging of the Borough into the County, as follows :
Assets. Government Subsidy on rates collected £455 4 6 Accounts for repairing Town Hall, &e., amountin'! to Ll.'ll l.'ls. 2d. were passed for payment. Resolved—That tenders be called for fencing in the back and side of the Town Hall and Library Sf clions with a wall to be built with lime mortar, and also that tenders lie also called for completing the iron railing in front of the Library. The meeting then adjourned till Saturday the 6th September, at 8 p.m. Adjourned meeting, September 6th. Present Vincent Pyke, Esq., (President) and Messrs B. Naylor, (Treasurer) A. Joss, S. Welsford, J. E. Stevens, and Geo. Fache, (Hon. Secretary.) The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Resolved : —That the account of Mr Tyrrell, for repairing roof of Town Hall— L 6 4s. 9d.—be passed for payment, subject to examination. The President said, under the Libraries’ Powers Act, it was competent for all libra-
ries to adopt a seal ; be thought the late Clyde Borough seal would do, aud would suggest that it be adopted.
Resolved:—That the seal of the late Clyde Borough be adopted as the seal of the Clyde (Vincent County) Athenieum and Public Library. Tenders wete now opened for stone wall, and that of Mr E. M ‘Manus was accepted. The Secretary was instructed to furnish th“ members of the Trust with copies of existing rules, and to inform them that this meeting will stand adjourned till the 13th instant at 8 p.m., for the purpose of revising the same, and for discussing the affairs of the Trust generally. The meeting then adjourned till the 13th instant, at 8 p.m.
