Mr Hislop moved as an amendment : “ That the House, also thinks it right to state that the foregoing opinion has been arrived at in the absence of official papers or information on the several subjects in re pard to which your Advisers are alleged to have hem guilty of maladministration and neglect,” Sir G. Grey, and Messrs Rees and Manders spoke to the amendment- it was put to the vote and lost. On the motion of Sir W. Fox, Messrs Wakefield, Stevens, Green, and the mover wore elected a committee to draw and present an address to his Excellency, in accordance with the resolutions passed. The address was brought up, read and adopted. THE LAT ST. Dunedin, July 31st. It is reported on good authority that Sir George Grey has expressed himself in favor of amongst other reforms the system now in use in America, by which Civil Servants are changed with every change of government. An influential meeting of the Opposition was held at the residence of the Hon. John Johnston this morning. It will he shewn that Sir George Grey’s policy is essentially tb it of the Opposition, that is—dressed in stolen clothes* Ac, An organisation is to he formed to conduct the elections, and the sinews of war will he freely forthcoming. The very latest is to the 'fleet that the Opposition will agree to the Loan Bill, but prevent the Government having any control over it ; they will also agiee to sufficient supplies being voted till tho new Parlia meat meets.
