DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL

The usual monthly meeting of the Com ■ mittee of Management was held in the Committee Room on Monday evening last, the 9th inst. Present—W. L. Simpson, Esq. (VicePresident, in the chair), and Messrs Auckland, Cambridge, Holt, J. E. Stevens (Treasurer), and Geo. Fache (Secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Letter from the Colonial Treasurer, intimating that amount of subsidy for the past quarter had been forwarded, was read and received. Letter from Mr Jackson, contractor for supplying coals, to the effect that the Committee could break through his contract if they were not satisfied with the article he was supplying. Resolved—‘‘ Tliat Mr Jackson be informed that his contract from date is broken. ” The Visiting Committee were empowered to make such arrangements as they may deem best for supplying the Institution with coal. The Visiting Committee reported that Mr T. Sima had offered to give as a donation two loads of firewood, if the Committee would cart it. Resolved-— *• That the offer be accepted, with thanks.” Mr Holt, contractor for re-construction of Hospital water-race, intimated through the Visiting Committee that by extending the fluraing across the creek some 25 feet, the race would be more serviceable. The Committee were empowered to have the desired alteration made to the extent of L2. Mr Auckland tabled a notice of motion for the next meeting—“ That the resolution passed at meeting of Committee held on April 7th, re Mr Charnock's tender for rebuilding of Hospital buildings, bo rescinded.” The Treasurer was empowered to shift the banking account of the Institution from the Bank of New South Wales to the Bank of New Zealand, Alexandra. The meeting then closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
