McCONNOCHIE Begs to advise Miners and the Trade generally that he has just received another shipment of North British Gum Boots, manufactured specially to his order, a sample of which will ho left at the various centres of the surrounding business places. He has no doubt they will prove a great improvement upon the former boors. The following is an extract of a letter received from the Manager of the North British Bubber Company, Edinburgh : “We wore favoured with a call, in “ October last, from our mutual friend “ late of your place, who showed us your “ letter of the 31st August, and with “ whom we arranged to send you a ship- “ meut of boots answering to the descrip- “ tion given by you in that letter, viz “ with an alteration with respect to qua- “ lity, and of increase in thickness of tho “ soles, which we trust will be approved “ of, as we really trust they will from “ actual trial. This surface sole is of a “ finer quality of compressed gum, and “will, as regards rubbing or friction “ amongst rocks or rubble, assuredly “ stand much better than ordinary boots. “ We determined on this when we found “we could do it within your limits. We “ further determined to let you see some “of another make, namely, a ease with “ boots having the soles of ordinary “thickness and the uppers both of tho “ fine quality. This boot being lighter, “we can do it at same price as ordinary “ boots. We are always prepared to re- “ ceive your valued suggestions.” Note.- Upon examining this new shipment of North British Gum Boots, I observe the Company have succeeded at last in permanently fixing the heels without the aid of screws or nails, which is a vast improvement upon the others, as the nails used to wear through the boot, and sometimes give uneasiness to the wearer.
