ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
—o— THE LATE ACCIDENT AT OPHIR. (TO THK KDTTOR OF THE DUVSTAN TIMES.) Sm— In your i.-sue of the 21st instant I observe a paragraph as being communicated to yon in reference to thi late accident to tho child of Mr Leaak. No one more than myself regrets that it <lid occur, but in justice to the owner of the horse, and the officer whose duty it is to see that horses do not wander in the public streets, I must distinctly state, for the information of your communicator, that the accident did" not happen either in the public street or within a considerable distance of it. Had the party who communicated this to you fully posted himself up i n the matter before rushing into print, he would h*ve obtained information lelative to it which might perh.ips have made him hesitate before committing himself to such sweeping assertions as ma slaughter, &c, asrainst the owner of the horse ami officer in charge. 1 am, however, happy to inform vour communicator that little Sammy is epiite recovered from the accident ; and I would advise him for th" future to communicate nothing hut truths.- I am, &0., - Fitches.
