The office of Collector provoked a good deal of d'seussion, thy generally t rpres-md opnoon being that payment by resu't# would ba more satioiaelory than a fixed amount. Mr Auckland failed to #ee the reamn for any change, and thought that the nftire# of Secretary aud Collector should be combined as usual. Mr Cambridge thought payment by commission objectionable, and, if adopted, would tend to lessen the amount collected rather than increase it, as people would object to pay when they knew there Was a lix'ed percentage to come out of it. Mr Faehe declined to act as Collector on commission. The question of appointmentof Col’eclor, was adjourned till next meeting of Committee. Mr Holt said that patient M’Gormick had now expressed his willingness to leave the Hospital for Dunedin, to undergo whatever operation the medical fraternity of Dunedin consider necessary. The matter was left in the hand# of the Visiting Committee. The question of disposal, or otherwise, of the Hospital water race was now disoubse- . Eventually it was Resolved—That tenders he called for put ting the race in repair in its present couree ; or alternative tenders for constructing an until ely new race ; or for the purchase of it. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated he proceedings.
