MASONIC BALL, CROMWELL.
The Invitation Hall of Cromwell Kdwin. ning Lodge, held on Friday night last passed off with gre„t eclat, and was one of the most brilliant and enjoyable gatherings it has been our pleasure to witness in Otago. The arrangements were complete j the dancing good ; and the decorations a masterpiece. The Ball commenced about ten o’clock, and was opened by the First Set of Quad, rides. As the company marclnd round prior to the music playing the scene was most imposing—the ladies being dressed in the most fascinating and fashionable style* the Officers and Brethren of the Lodge in full dress, wearing their regalia—the pen. lemon visitors and representative* of other Masonic Lodges and Friendly Societies ap. pearing in their best. The music was presided over by that well-known discourse!' of sweet strains Mr Smith. The refreshments —provided by Mr Scott—were excellent, there being no lack of everything of the season. Before closing we would say a word of praise is due to Bro. H. Behrens for the artistic and able manner in which he superintended the decorating of the Hall, there being nothing of a flimsy nature about his work, the picturesque, solid, simple, an I natural style being much admired. The company, in sepaiating, expressed them, series highly pleased, and were thankful to the Brethren of Kilwinning Lodge for the happy time they had spent. Mr Barnes, of Bannockburn, performed tbe duty of M.C.
