ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENT.

LATE CRICKET MATCH.

[IFe do not hold ourselves responsible for opinions expressed by correspondents .]

(10 THE EDITOR OF THE DUNSTAN' TIMES.) Sir,—ln your report of the Cricket Match—Alex.Hi Ira v. Clyde—in your issue of Fritlay last, I notice many excuses held out for the defeat of the latter town’s team, and with which, as an impartial cricketer, I beg leave to take exception. You draw attention to the fact that two of Clyde’s best men (?) were not playing ; hut forget to point out that Alexandra was under a still greater disadvantage on account of the absence of Messrs W. G. Dees, Ratcliffe and myself, who, without egotism 1 think I may call, without fear of question, three of Alexandra's beat men. This probably was an oversight, but is open to a much more invidious construction. Again, you say Messrs Sams and Clark are Clyde men. This I deny. Roth are members of the Alexandra C. C., and in common with myself and other Alexandra men, are members of the Dunstan C. C.; but they have no title to play for Clyde totvn. Granted that Mr Sams played for Clyde against Alexandra last season ; but that was only a concession on our part to bring about a match, as Clyde would only play on those terms. By inserting the above you will much oblige—Yours, etc., F. Williams. Alexandra, Nov. 13th, 1878. [We don’t doubt F. W’s impartiality, but we think he makes some mistake about Mr Clark.— Ed. D. T.]
