CONSULTS— On all affections of the Nervous System (no matter from what cause rising.) On all broken-down constitutions. On all diseases. arising from early indiscretions. On Gout. On Rheumatism. In these colonies, those excesses which we have indulged iu “hot youth” tell upon us with fearful interest. Our regrets are useless, our repinings futile. The sole idea should be the chances we possess of remedying the ills wc already have, or combating the effects likely to result. Hide it as he may, put on as good an exterior as ha can, still is the victim conscious that ho is a living lie, and that sooner or later his vices will discover him to the world. Onr faith, our obligations to society at large, the welfare of our future offspring, and tho duty, we owe to ourselves forbids procrastination, and points out to us, not to wait till the ravages break out in our con- I stitntions. Before negotiating with a merchant, be- j fore engaging with a confidential clerk, he- I fore employing a barrister, a careiul man I makes enquiries as to their standing, their | length of occupancy or resilience ; and, in I the case of a legal adviser, both as to his I legal qualifications ami ns to his capabilities I of transacting the individual business he I consults him upon. Strange to say, how- I ever, in the selection of a medical man, tho sufferer frequently omits these necessary precautions and without regard to the fitness, qualification, experience and ability for the particular ailment requiring treatment, he consults the nearest man, whose experience and practice, perhaps, lies iu quite an opposite direction. L. .Smith, am the only legally-quali-fied medical man advertising in the colonies! Have I not also prosecuted, at my own expense, these very quacks, and exposed tho various nostrums they arc selling,—such as Phosphodyno, Essence of Life, ’etc.,—and had them analysed and found them to consist of ‘ 1 Burnt Sugar and flavoring matter,” and tho certificates I have proved to be all forgeries. It is for this reason that I stop out of tho ethics of the profession and advertise, to give those who require tho services of my branch an opportunity of knowing they can consult a legally qualified man, and one, moreover, who has made this his especial study. Dr L. L. bmith is the only legally qualified medical man advertising, ami he has been in Melbourne 24 years in full practice on NERVOUS DISEASES LOSS OF POWER AND DEBILITY SYPHILITIC AFFECTIONS WANT OF CONDITION GOUT AND RHEUMATISM.
