ALEXANDRA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

An ordinary meeting of the Alexandra Borough Council was held on Wednesday, September 4. Present—Jas. Rivers, Esq , (Mayor), and Crs Theyers, Robertson, and M ‘Donald.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and continued.

The inward correspondence, consisting of a letter from the Inspector of Police, sanctioning the appointment of Constable M'Lcod, as Inspector of Nuisances ; and from the lessees of the Corporation water race, asking for an extension of time on aocount of extra work in repairing the race was read and received.

Moved by Councillor Theyers, seconded hy Cr M ‘Donald—That the request of the lessees of tho race he granted, and that the Town Clerk he instructed to inform them that the Council will require tho water supply for the township guaged in the same place as formerly.—Carried. Moved hy Councillor Theyers, seconded hv Cr M‘Donald—That tenders he ml led for destroying all tho peats found running at large within the Municipal boundary after .the 14th inst.—Carried.

Moved by Cr Theyers, seconded by Cr Robertson—That the water he stopped from running over the foot of Tarbert-street, and that notice be given to Messrs M‘Donald and Kinnaird that no more ground shall he stripped towards the street.—Carried.

Moved by Councillor Thcyers, seconded by Or Robertson—That the Works Committee he empowered to get the streets and drains cleaned, and also to engage a man to clean out the drains once a fortnight.—Carried.

The usual vote of thanks closed the pro' ccedings.
