POINTS OF A GOOD COW.
There are certhia unmistakable points which any good cow of any breed ought to possess ; that is, ** marks,” which are common to all good rich milch nows, and they arc briefly as follows 1. A deep 'yellowskin. 2. A large udder, square and coming well forward and high up behind. 3. Teats rather large and long, and side wide apart. 4. A mild, gentle appearance, and the ab sence of every tiling like nervousness. 5. A thin, flat neck, with a 'generally bony appearance. 6. Small bony head, and not too much horn. 7. Largo hind quarters and small fore quarters. 8. Barrel hooped and deep in the flank. 9. Udder, when empty, skinny and not fleshy. 10. Large milk veins. 11. Two oval spots above the hind teats, or one above the left hind teat, are frequently found in first-class cows. Any cow having the above enumerated requisites can, with almost absolute certainty, bo counted upon to answer all purposes of a perfect cow. She may he largo or small, ■her hack may bo straight or the reverse ; her tail may not reach her hocks, and sho may have no switch at all, bat if she is as above described, sho might to fill the pail. If she docs not, something besides the cow is at fault.—Tnrf, Field and Farm.
