ALEXANDRA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

—o— The ordinary meeting of the Alexandra Borough Council was held on Wednesday, August 21st, Present—J. Rivers, Escp, (Mayor), and Crs Theyers, Mackersy, M’Donald, and Robertson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Moved by Or Robertson, seconded by Cr M ‘Donald—That the inward correspondence he received and tho outward approved.— Carried. Mr W. Fraser’s application to lease tho Municipal Reserve on sections 2 and 3, block XIV., was granted, on condition that he kept a road open to the gravel pit and Kinnaird’s house, the lease to be for three years at a rental of 10s per section per annum. On the application of Mr J. Noon for » larger supply of water, it was resolved— That the Town Clerk write to Mr Noon, informing him that in consequence of the arrangements entered into with the lessees of the race, the Council cannot comply with

his request. Moved by Councillor Theyers, seconded by Cr M‘Donald—That the Town Clerk bo instructed to write to Vincent Pyke, Esq., asking him to use his influence to obtain an endowment of land for the Borough of Alexandra.—Carried.

Moved by Councillor M‘Donald, seconded by Cr Robertson—That public notice bo given that all goats found at large within the Municipal boundary, after Wth September, IS7B, shall bo destroyed without further notice.—Carried. The Town Clerk was instructed to write to the Inspector of .Nuisances drawing his attention to the fact that pigs were allowed to run at large within the Municipality, and directing him to take stops to abate the nuisance. The application of the Quadrille Assembly to rent the Town Hall fora further period of six nights, was agreed to on the same terms as previously, by the Council. The Mayor was requested to telegraph to Mr Dyke asking him to use his influence to get the Montore block thrown open. The usual vote of thanks closed the meeting.
